Polo Boots
Real polo boots are made to play the sport of polo. The best polo boots are the ones who best address the security and the safety of the polo player.
PoloGear boots are made to protect. Only the thickest, top back portion of each hide is strong enough to provide the protection demanded in PoloGear boots. Add to this and even thicker lining and you have protection to withstand and defuse the pressure from even the hardest bump or ride off or even the strongest shot. Each PoloGear boot has a fully reinforced heel counter and a structured toe box that add lateral strength, protection and rigidity.
We have made the PoloGear boot to last. Our boots are made from the finest leather available. Each hide is carefully selected and inspected for defects and weakness by the master bookmaker himself. Each piece of leather is hand cut, selected and sewn, then assembled by craftsman that still practice the old-world trade of hand boot making. Once the boot is assembled the leather is moistened and placed again on the last where it sits for up to three weeks depending upon the model. This gives the leather a memory and caste that makes it much less likely to collapse in the heel area like most boots.
Unlike most boots the sole of the PoloGear boot in not glued on. We employ the Goodyear welt process used only in the most expensive and best of boots and shoes. The lower sole is welted onto the bottom of the boot using a special nylon thread eight strands thick (other boots use only four). Then the upper sole is sewn to the welt making it virtually impossible to lose a sole and allowing a much more contoured fit in the bottom of the foot and a much more stable footbed. In the critical support area under the insole, each PoloGear sole has an additional hand leather insert to diffuse the stirrup pressure for a more comfortable secure ride. To this add a laminated heel with a Vibram® bottom plate, and you can see why the sole is the heart of our PoloGear boot.
In all PoloGear boots, you’ll find extra heavy-duty brass #16 YKK zippers and buckles, fine detail and special attention to the stitching. Only waxed cloth thread is used for durability and to prevent unravelling. Each thread is had maxed to assure quality, consistency and has no knots for added strength and durability.
The fit of the boot depends upon the “last” it was built on and the craftsmanship of the cobbler who makes it. PoloGear uses lasts refined and adjusted over the decades in the trade. We offer regular, wide and extra wide lasts and special ladies lasts, also in three widths. The reinforced heel counter assures the heel will maintain its shape. A fully formed heel cup offers maximum comfort and minimum heel lift and protects the player. A fully formed protective toe box affords roominess and most importantly protects the player's toes from injury.
PoloGear boots are made to be works of art. Just because a boot is functional does not mean it should not be beautiful. Since 1993 PoloGear has achieved a standard in craftsmanship, beauty, durability and protection by which other boots are measured. The achievement has come with time, dedication to building the best polo boots possible and with the love of the sport and the player. We invite you to discover the advantages of PoloGear boots and which model is best suited to your individual needs.
